    Hi Friends,

I want to learn to track a 3D text in a scene. I have seen a lot of
tutorials on Youtube which all use Boujou & Cinema 4D

My query is, since all I want is to have a simple 3D text, is there some software
other than Cinema 4D to specifically do just this (3D text in 3D space with maybe
a light source for shadows that can be pasted onto boujou-tracked video)?

If yes, a pointer to a corresponding tutorial would be great.

    Thank you.

For fast 3d text you can use ShapeShifter AE from Mettle. You can then link the positioning controls in SSAE to a Null that has track info for positioning.
There’s a few good tutorials here on the Cow on SSAE, none that include tracking as far as I know.

Also, Zaxwerks Invigorator Pro can do that. You can link 3d objects with AE layers to control position.

Depending on your needs, you may also want to check out the 3D Extruder Script from aescripts. It’s somewhat limited but it’s only $35.

another 2 ways to create a simple 3d Text is :

1- using the “Shatter” fx you will have full control of the 3D tex.

2- create the text and make it 3D then go to position and make and expression, write the follow : value+[0,0,index]; , now with that done just duplicate the TEXT layer till you have the extrusion needed to create an 3D illusion of the text.

    hope that help.
