  • Too big for SL DVD Disc

I’ve edited a film in premiere CS4, fairly basic. A few titles/credits, transitions here and there, nothing mind blowing. It lasts 1hr24mins. I’ve exported it to Microsoft DV Pal, widescreen. Default settings. Imported into Encore CS4. 8.0Mbps. However its totalling at 5.11GB, too big for SL.

I thought this would fit? As a rule I’ve always thought anything up to 1hr30mins would fit?? I’ve tried changing encore settings to 7Mbps & 6Mbps but that had no effect whatsoever.

Can anyone help? the client would prefer it to fit onto a SL to keep costs down. How would I go about compressing it? I really dont wanna lose too much quality though…

At 8, 7 or 6 Mbps, your program should easily fit on a SL DVD. Check your Build panel for DVD-ROM content – that’s the most likely culprit.

How d’you mean? DVD Rom Content is unchecked. There is none.

By changing the project settings to 7Mbps and then 6Mbps, literally nothing happened. The size remained at 5.11GB. Should something have changed? Cause I’m obviously doing something wrong otherwise…

Strange….but it seems to be fine now. Created a new project and its showing as 3.83GB now. I must have missed something in the settings. Thanks for you response though.

Any idea how to fit a longer video onto DVD? 2 hours+? Client would prefer one DVD over 2, even with a little decreased quality.
    Thanks
