  Encore DVD Fullscreen and Widescreen project

  Background

  I am trying to create a DVD that has both a 4:3 and 16:9 video. I have two timelines and all seems correct in Encore, VideoLan and Windows Media player.

  The issue — when I play the widescreen video on a fullscreen 4:3 monitor the video gets squished so it fills the entire 4:3 window.

  • I have tried numerous ideas and none worked.
  • I looked at your site and came up with a suggestion that the DVD player needs to know the monitor aspect ratio. Since the DVD player is at my parents hours many miles away I can’t check this but I will say that a commercial widescreen movie actually plays back in the anamorphic letter box mode so I really think the problem is my issue.

  Questions

  Is there any software that can look at the DVD and determine if it has the codes that instruct the DVD player to play in anamorphic mode?

  Any other suggestions?
