    hi,
i am quite new to encore. i am having problem with creating menu from scratch in encore cs4. just simple one, the main menu has 2 buttons: “Play all” and “Scene Select”
“Play all” will play movie and “Scene Select” will go to submenu.
I created this menu on Photoshop and all working well, tested ok in Preview.
I have a 2 secs .avi transition video, rendered from After Effects.
Problem appears after I applied transition to the “Scene Select” button, which now if I do a preview, the main menu will appear for about 3 secs and then disappear, leaving black screen. If I moved my mouse over the black screen, I can still see the mouse pointer changed indicating that it still found the button and I could still click on it blindly.
What could be wrong? How do I get the transition works?
    Thanks.

You didn’t say whether or not the menu had background video or audio.

Did you give the menu a duration under the Motion tab?

    Did you uncheck Hold Forever?

    Did you set any overrides?

    Hi william

You are facing this issue because you have unchecked “Hold forever” option in Menu Motion properties and set the duration to 3 sec. Thats why in preview menu is shown for just 3 seconds.

Check the “Hold forever” and you will not see this issue.

Please respond if you still face issue.

    Thanks

thank guys for the response, sorry for taking a while to get back to you.

-I tested with the simple menu without background video/audio.
-no duration set on the Motion tab of the menu properties
    -Hold Forever is checked
    -no overrides on any button

I had problem as soon as I added transition video to the button, and problem gone after I took out the transition.

A workaround for this is, I created a dummy submenu and used the transition video as background video for this submenu, have the button linked to this dummy submenu, that linked this dummy to the real submenu. so this dummy functioning as transition.

Another problem, not sure if this is related, if I previewed the menu without using any transition and everything looked working, but when I press Play All button, the whole menu will jump down a bit (a few inch from it’s original position) before it played the clip.

    this’s driving me crazy…
