  • Linking keyframes?

    Hey, my first post.

I’m trying to do some advanced lip syncing for a cartoon character, and I will narrow it a bit down here to explain my problem.

The shape of the mouth is gonna be a shape layer path. Say I make three different mouths adjusting the anchor points of the path in three keyframes after each other; one open (A), one closed (B) and one shaped as an O (C).

I want to link these three mouths to some kind of controller. I’ve seen some tutorials that use time remapping on a precomp, which works fine if you want different static mouths representing the different sounds.

But I’m gonna be difficult and demand interpolation! In other words; I want the mouth shape to be able to go from A to C, without going through B, and I want interpolation between A and C.

    Can it be done?

If so, it would open up a lot of doors for making advanced, yet simple, facial animation. (I might be wrong, but I think it’s something like this they do to animate lip-sync in 3DS MAX and such.)

    Thanks 🙂
