Fuzzy Pictures in encore 2
When I preview my DVD, the highlights for the buttons look really fuzzy. They are a solid color. The highlights look great in Photoshop, and I dont understand why this is happening. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you, cinemaker

Photoshop isn’t the ideal environment to judge your button highlights, unless you understand how they work on DVD-Video.
Subpictures are 2 bit graphics. That means one color, and one opacity value. No gradients, drop shadows, or other ‘soft’ effects will come through correctly. No anti-aliasing, just one color value, and one opacity value.
What’s in your subpicture layer?

The subpicture is a single color, nothing special. The buttons have effects applied on the shape, but none of that is applied to the subpicture.

Are there any curves? Since there’s no anti-aliasing in a DVD subpicture layer, these won’t look smooth.

Try lowering the opacity.
If there’s a solid background color, you could add another subpicture layer (=2) that’s the same color as the background (with lower opacity) that surrounds the first subpicture layer.

Nature of DVD-Video subpictures, I’m afraid. My last advice on this would be to simplify your subpicture shape to minimize the nastiness.
