  • Subtitles on DVD are not reflecting changes made in Encore

Posted by Phil Grimpo on July 14, 2006 at 10:10 pm

I had a subtitle text script that I imported to Encore. Then I made all my spacing changes, etc. and had to make some text changes, spelling changes, etc. Most all the changes took, but a couple. For example, when I view the subtitle in Encore, it looks fine, but then when I make the DVD and view it, either words are just missing, or lines never appear. This only happens like 4 times throughout the DVD. Any ideas why this is happening? I’ve tried clearing the cache, etc. with no luck. I’ve checked the build and there are no errors. Any ideas on why some of these changes are working fine in Encore, but not when played on the DVD? (I have tried a couple different players)

    Thanks!

    -Phil

Try selecting all of your subtitle clips, go to the Character panel and change the font, then (wait for it), undo. Burn another DVD (you are using RW, correct? if not, do so…), and see if that solves the problem.

I’ll try that. Why do you say to use RW?
I use Tai Yuden DVD-R Disks.

[Phil Grimpo] “Why do you say to use RW?”

So that you don’t make any coasters while you test/experiment.

OH. Gotcha. I thought you were meaning for integrity purposes. Your trick worked! It looks like the subtitles “stuck” this time. Thanks!
