  • How do you compress a DVD in Encore?

Posted by Daniel Haskett on May 4, 2005 at 12:05 pm

    Hi there

When I try and build a DVD it says there is too much (5.2 GB) and that I cant build it, but surely there must be a way to compress the DVD without loosing much quality? Or am I completely wrong?

    Cheers

    Dan

    Well a few things..

How many hours of video do you have on it?

If you have more than 4.7gb (?) of data , and you absoultely need it, go dual layer discs(or double layer discs)

Whats your transcode settings for each video?

I have about 4 hours of footage on there at the moment, the transcode settings are on automatic so Im not sure. Do you think it would be unwise to compress it even more?

    thanks

whoa thats a bit too much .. you can shrink the size down even more by playing with the transcode options but it will reduce video quality big time. If you need to have 4 hrs , consider double layer discs, or even making a 2 disc edition 🙂

“…a bit too much” is a bit of an understatement…
