NEX VG900 Full Frame Camcorder
I kept wondering when someone would come out with a Full Frame Video Camera. Well here it is:
https://store.sony.com/p/Sony-NEX-VG900-Full-Frame-Camcorder/en/p/NEXVG900I see they are calling the FF sensor in the NEXVG900 a “35mm Full Frame Sensor” Yet the sensors in the FS-700, FS100, F3 and higher end cams like the Arri Alexa are using, “Super 35mm sensors.” My understanding is that a Super 35mm sensor is equal in size to a 35mm film frame. I’m under the impression that “Full Frame” is more like a 65mm film frame size. Is that correct? And if so, why is “35mm” being used to describe two different sized sensors? (Super 35mm is a 1.5 crop).
Now I wonder if (when?) the next version of the F3 or FS700 will have a FF sensor….or the next version of the yet to be shipped Canon C-100, will have a FF sensor.
