I’m looking to upgrade from SD (Sony PD 170) to HD and I’ve been researching the:
Sony – FS 100 or EX1RMy work consist of commercial, interviews, wedding, and live events.
I’m expanding into corporate video, music videos and documentary.

February 22, 2012 at 5:17 pmI’ve used SONY EX1R for two years now for documentary, corporate, commercial and web tv material. Very good – in fact – https://web.me.com/kbcv/VideoWork/EX1R.html

February 22, 2012 at 5:37 pmKent, great stuff. I have an EX 1, can you tell us what your settings were for the Washington film, interlaced or progressive, PP settings?

Actually I shot the WA film at 24p, some 1280, most 1920, color graded everything by 3-way color in FCP 7 and my own custom use of MB Quick Looks and other filters – I never use a picture profile as I like to have raw shots to play with in post.
And yes, the entire kit is for sale. SONY EX1R is a great camera for what original poster wants to do.
Thanks
K

this is a no brainer, get the ex. ive had mine for 9 months and love it. i came from shooting with a dsr300 for 12 years and a pd150.
theres a 400.00 rebate on it and you get a 16gb card. if youre serious about your craft, youll make back your investment in no time. dont skimp on a camera to save alittle money, youll regret it later.
and i dont miss tape at all!! -

February 23, 2012 at 2:44 pmI think the EX cams are a better all around choice. They won’t give the shallow DOF of the FS100 without a 35mm adapter, but they are very flexible.
