Converting S-Video to HD/SDI & Scaling It to Widescreen
I know this may be something that simply is not doable aside from using something like a Matrox I/O box of some kind, but when I have to record from the various endoscopic cameras I have encountered in the many surgical suites around the country I have shot at, not all of these cameras are updated to the latest HD technology, but many are still SD, so taking the signal from the S-video output is all that is available. I’d like to somehow take this signal and somehow record it to my Sony PMW-EX30 through the HD/SDI input. Is there such a means of simple or not so simple conversion? I’m tiered of carrying my DSR-50 around everywhere when I don’t use it that much anymore. I have a Geffen DVI to HD/SDI Converter Scaler that I can put into the configuration as well. Is there something out there that would scale the signal to widescreen? I know very well one cannot increase the resolution of that picture, but what I do now is take a DVCam recording and composite it with my “outside-the-wound” package, my EX3 and EX1 in FCP. I am just trying to abandon DVCam altogether if I can and carry a smaller deck with me.
