Bracket For PMW 350 Viewfinder
I own a Sony PMW-350K and for all practical purposes, I am very pleased with the camera. However, while using a demo unit, I found that the space between the viewfinder and the lens severely restricted access to the zoom control and the lens rings. I determined I could fix this with a simple bracket to elevate the viewfinder by an inch. I can now quickly access all of these controls as I had on my previous Sony camera with Canon lens.
I figured if I was having these problems, then others were too. I had the bracket duplicated and now offer it on a blog:

I wouldn’t consider this thread as being spam, but rather, a solution to a design oversight by Sony. Not everyone has the ability or access to a host of necessary tools to make a bracket such as this. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to work a camera lens as quickly as you need to.

Can the viewfinder rods retract back fully with the plate in place?

Yes, the horizontal adj. tubes do retract fully, and the raised lens-tightening knob does not hit anything, nor does it affect the hot shoe.
