  • Trouble importing XDCAM footage into Premiere

We recently got footage from a shoot done in New Zealand. We received the raw footage back on a portable hard drive. We are having some trouble ingesting it into Adobe Premiere CS4. Here are the symptoms:

    1. We bring-up the media browser and it finds the footage without issue:

    2. The sequence we are importing into is

    Sony XDCAM EX 1080i (HQ)

    3. When we put the clips in the bin and look at them they seem fine. Here is one image of the bin:

You can see it is 1080 and mono 48K audio.

    4. When we place it in the timeline it is fine as far as video goes, but there seems to be no audio. See from this clip how the audio track is there, but shows no waveform. When you play the timeline there is no audio as well.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Thanks!

Well, looking at that I am suspecting codec issue, question can play the video in your computer with audio and have you tried with another NLE like Edius. try checking also with clipbrowser.

Good idea. I just tried it with VideoLAN (which seems to always play everything) and it works perfectly.

Usually adobe cs4 master comes with the codec pack for xdcam ex but if you dont have that you may have to look into buy the codec from https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/

Yep … it was a Codec issue. I bought the MainConcept plugin and it fixed it.

    Thanks!
