  • PMW-350 side Video Out Port?

If I don’t have the SD option on a PMW-350 what is the output of the side video out port. I’m told it is one channel of component; switchable to SD/SDI is this correct? It’s obviously not the HD/SDI out.
    Thanks,

    Hi Michael,

The Video Out port gives you either an analog composite signal or the luminance (Y) channel of the HD signal (selectable in the Operational menu under Input and Output–>Output and i.LINK). It is intended for monitoring purposes and will output a down converted SD signal regardless of whether the SD option is installed.

    Thanks. That’s what I thought.
What we discovered was that the color phase of the SD composite signal has no relationship with the color phase of the HD/SDI signal and not knowing that required a re-do of a base-line camera set up… It was a gotcha we should have anticipated, but unfortunate. I have always used the HD/SDI out for monitoring, but now I understand how it can be used as a second monitor, but not a “test out.” as in the older cameras in that form-factor.
