  xd media lost

  I copied the media using the xd software. I somehow lost some of my footage. I think it is because I renamed a few of the folders. How do I get the footage back. I already deleted it off the media card.

  Prayer? That or google for data recovery services. Be aware can easily cost you $2K. Though there do exist special media recovery applications for OS X and Windows you can try. Seek and ye shall find.

  Next time back up the entirety of every card’s contents before ingesting anything. Otherwise you’re throwing away your original footage with no recourse…

  Check out this guys they have lots of work on xdcam data recorvery

  The proper workflow is ClipBrowser with CRC on to a hard drive. That gives you BPAV master off the cards.
  The next step depends on whether you’re Windows or Mac and what NLE you use.
  ClipBrowser can wrap to MXF
  XDCAM Transfer wraps to MOV for Final Cut Pro.
  Some NLEs handle the MP4 directly.

  If you don’t use ClipBrowser with CRC to copy, you’re risking your masters. Always save a BPAV as the camera master.
