  • XDCAM Import error: “no picture essence” or “unsuccessful read”

Posted by Anna Heuss on May 31, 2010 at 7:49 pm

    Hello,

I’m importing XDCAM HD footage using the XDCAM Transfer tool. It won’t import some of the clips (or stops after getting to a certain point). They’re all in the middle of the card and it can’t be due to length either as it imports other clips of the same length just fine.

For some clips, I get the error message: “Error reading file (unsuccessful read)”
and for others it tells me the clip has “no picture essence.”

I’ve tried using in and out points, doesnt make a difference.
I hope someone can help me out!

We’ll try and clarify here what you’re working with:

    • XDCAM HD uses XDCAM discs yet you refer to a “card” that has the media on it.
    • XDCAM EX uses SxS Pro memory cards and various 3rd party SDHC cards with an adapter.

What type of media are you pulling your clips from?

Anna you could try posting your query in the Sony F900 and PDW (XDCAM HD) Series Forum. Here we’re just about the Sony EX series cameras that use flash card-based media.
