Battery ran out… Did it erase my media?
So I just got off a shoot where I was shooting to the sxs cars and suddenly my battery died and when I turned camera back on with new battery it told me I needed to format the media card!!!
It had 45 minutes of footage!!!! Stuff I can’t recapture.
I won’t be at my computer till tomorrow to open the drive and see if the footage is on the drive…
Has anyone else had this happen??

Unless the battery was physically disconnected- you may be ok. But be careful- when you see the on-camera low battery warnings stop shooting immediately. Especially on a long take.

No, it was not physically moved. It just ran out of juice… So have you seen this before with recoverable results?
If so I can at least sleep tonight.

Then get to bed. Your clips are most likely fine. Well, maybe not the one you were recording when the battery died but the others should be OK. If you want to be sure then start the camera right now and let it restore the card. All restoring does is rebuild the SxS Pro card directory so it can display all the clips properly. The restore command does not reformat the card. Check it out and then post back.

Joseph – DO NOT FORMAT anything. When the camera says you need to RESTORE, select yes and press the button.
