    Hello,

I keep going through the “Text that blows away like sand”, by Emanuel Eriksson and every time I try to render it seriously takes like 2 1/2 days. I haven’t been able to find help anywhere. I know I had it setup at one time so it didn’t take so long but can’t get it? If ANYONE has any tips or knows of a good tutorial for render settings…Please, Please, PLEASE let me know. 2 days seems very excessive and I know it shouldn’t take that long. Thanks for any help.

What are your system specs? Platform, processor, RAM?

To see how your system measures up compared to a standard, go here:
    https://www.media-motion.tv/aebenchmarks.html
… and render the project both ways. Compare your times to the fastest system listed.

There should be some fast render tips in the manual if I recall, but if it takes 2.5 days on your system to render a project, no tips will get it down to one or two hours, short of buying a new system.

Anyway, run the benchmark, then come back here with your system spces and result.

ok, did that and it went way faster and those have to be more intense than the sand tutorial. One thing I noticed is it used like 1.5 gigs of memory and when I try to render it uses maybe 90,000k and that’s it? The psd sequence took maybe a minute and the quicktime burning man video took an hour. If I download the ae file associated with the sand tutorial and render it goes faster….but when I try to do it from scratch, that’s when I run into my rendering problem. I’m running a P4 at 3.4 ghz and have 2 gigs of ram. Which is three times faster and 4 times more ram than the other machine that I had rendering the tutorial in about an hour…So I have to be doing something wrong. I’ve tried the psd sequence with a render farm setup with another computer and that one takes a long time too. I’ve also tried the quicktime render and it takes the same amount of time. Any suggestions? Thanks again.
