    Give us more info:
    system specs
    AE version
    OS
    screen grab of project

If Open GL is on- turn off.

Yeah, that’s pretty vague. What effects do you have applied to the adjustment layer?

    System Specs – i7 2600k , 8gb ram, 6870 2gb.
AE Version – CS5 is all I know
    OS – Windows 64 bit

And I’m not sure what you mean by Open GL on or off.

And it crashes even if I don’t have any effects on…

    Edit>Preferences>Previews
    Uncheck “Enable OpenGL”

Is it only happening in one comp or does it still happen even if you create a new comp? How about in a new project?

Try trashing your preferences file too.

Post a screen capture of your project- maybe we can see something there.
You got your answer from Eric as far as OpenGL goes.
Did you try creating a new project and adding an adjustment layer to see if it crashes?

I know this post is from a while ago but I have the same problem.

My AE version if AE CC 2017.

Every time I try to add an adjustment layer, my AE immediately crashes… Any ideas?
