No EX option in FCP Easy Setup
Posted by Max Morse on October 13, 2009 at 5:59 amSo I’ve been trying to edit footage on my laptop (Macbook Pro w/ FCP 6.0.6) from my EX-1 and for some reason the correct EX formats are not showing up in my setup options. I can only choose the Sony XDCAM HD options, bc the HDCAM EX and XDCAM HD422 options are just not there in the drop down. Am I missing a codec or plugin or something?
Thanks for any help ….

I’m not sure but I think the Easy Setups get installed with the SONY TRansfer and the FC Plugin.

October 13, 2009 at 3:54 pmEasy setups for EX should be there with FCP 6.0.2 and up. They’re built in. That said, this is an oft reported issue. I can’t quite remember what the fix was but it might be a reinstall of Quicktime and Final Cut Pro. It might be an uninstall and reinstall of FCP. It might be trashing FCP preferences. It might be adding the above as Rafael mentions that jogs FCP’s “memory.” They should be their with FCP 6.0.2 install. I think sometimes the issue happened when updating from FCP 6.0 or 6.0.1 to FCP 6.0.2 and up. It’s a flaky but common issue. I just wish I could recall the voodoo that fixes it.

name and save it. It’ll appear inside the easy setup dialog box.Frank

What means that?
With the Conform functions in FC, the Easy Setups have become almost unnecessary.

October 17, 2009 at 5:32 amHey all …
So I’ve tried just about everything suggested. Trashing receipts, reinstalling FCP, and reinstalling all the XDCAM products I could find (SxS driver, Log and Capture plugin, XDCAM transfer, browser, etc.). And still no EX formats in my setup. Any more ideas? Do you think the next step is going to see a genius?
Thanks!

October 17, 2009 at 8:44 amHi Max,
From FC 6 on there is a kind of Easy Setups manager.
Open the Easy Setups window and select:
Format: All formats
Rate: All rates
All the easy Setups that you have should show up on the Sequence Preset.
I have Easy Setups in four different places on my System.
