  • 35mm Adapters: Letus vs P+S Technik

We’re looking into buying an adapter for the EX-1 and EX-3 series. We distilled from all the different adapters on the market the Letus and P+S Technik as potentially very cool.

Is there anyone with good and bad experiences with either? Especially the Letus Ultimate in combination with Zeiss Distagon/Planar SLR lenses. But also the P+S Technik mini 400 and the Pro35 adapter for 1/2″ Camera’s.

This has come from my own research so far:

I shot with the Letus Extreme in combination with Zeiss Distagon/Planar SLR lenses (https://vimeo.com/4026212) we had problems with sharpness and vignetting. Supposedly that’s better with the Letus Ultimate.

I Also read this article by Alan Lefebvre, DP (https://btlg2009.blogspot.com/2009/02/pa … letus.html) Stating the P+S Technik is more forgiving with focus. Does anyone share this experience?

I rang Aki @ P+S technik and he told me NOT ALL XDCAMS EX1/3 work with their adapter (focus&vignetting problems). At first they had no idea why and they had the ‘faulty adapters’ returned and thoroughly checked. They were all ok though. This probably means there are production errors with some of the XDCAM EX cams. They couldn’t tell me which serial numbers. Their solution was to just try your EX-1/EX-3 and see if it works…. (dodgy). They were kind enough to send me a free connecting kit for the experiment.

I also Rang Camalot (local video rental) they acknowledged they didn’t rent the P+S Technik with their EX-1 because of the problems above. Their EX-3 worked fine with the P+S Technik.

    Hi Daan,
I think Philip Bloom (https://philipbloom.co.uk/) had tried an compared almost every single 35mm adapter.

Cinevate makes an adapter especially for the EX-1.
    It’s the Brevis MP.2

Actually they produce a Cinefuse designed FOR THE EX1/EX3 stock lens issue to compensate the edge to edge sharpness. I like this adapter the best and I think this Brevis unit is the adapter I want..

    Good Luck
