  • Archive XDCAM EX clips on RAID1 Drives

I am setting up a backup (archive) system for the XDCAM EX clips on two hard drives set on RAID1. However, I have the following questions:

Is it safe to archive EX clips on RAID1 hard drives?

Do I must use Clip Browser (CRC) to do this, or simply copy and paste the folder containing BPAV files?

Alternatively, I would have to copy EX clips via Clip Browser (CRC) on to each drive individualy; however, this would take twice the time as compared to copying on RAID1 drives.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It is better to use clip browser or the Transfer app. Less chance of corrupt files.

It would be fine to use Raid 1 mirror. No problems as far as video files go.

I prefer to copy to 2 different drives and store them in different physical locations. I also Back up to Bluray DVD’s or standard DVD’s.

Thanks very much. Good info. This confirms my plan for back up.
