ex1 and sound devices field recorder
Starting shooting a small feature in a month.
Does anyone know how to “sync” up the audio from Sound devices 720T with the EX1?
Or maybe I should say:
How would u guys work with these two units together?
I have just now realized that I cant find any timecode sync within the Ex1.
Sorry for the basic question…..
I sure hope were not reduced to clapping our hands …
I fond this from Noah in an earlier post:
“Yup- no audio timecode out on the EX1. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. For example get an audio timecode generator and feed it to all cameras on the same audio track and you’ll get poor man’s audio timecode sync. “
can anyone point out for me the units hes referring to?
Been browsing BH for quite a while, but still confused…
Or should i rather go buy a clapper that can display timecode from the 720T?

Another “poor person’s” workaround. Does the 720T generate time of day time code? Set both EX1 and 720T to time of day if so. They may be a few frames off but, unless the runtime or internal generators or off a bit, they could hold sync with a slight offset. Find the offset and you should be set. You may even be able to create Aux time code in your NLE to compensate for the offset. Sync once and you can stop/start at will.

it seems to work
i used my ambient lockit with my 744t you can use the ltc out from the lockit conect it to the xlr in on the ex1 and you have sort of a sync no genlock but i think it could help you mabeyi dont really like the ease of use of the software but it can convert the audio track timecode to a timecode that fcp understands

if you buy a ex3 you would have timecode the way it should be with both ltc and genlock in 🙂
