  1080 23.98 footage out of final cut, need to deliver 1080 29.97 and 720 59.94

  Hi Cow People,

  I have a sequence in Final Cut (fcp7, kona LHi) that has been edited at 23.98 (aka 23.976). I now have to bring it into after effects and do color correction and some graphics and effects. I will need to bring this back into final cut, and ultimately output this to our HDCamSR deck at 1080 29.97, as well as to 720 59.94
  I will also have to deliver FILES (quicktimes) on a drive of both flavors 1080 29.97 and 720 59.94

  whats the ideal workflow? should i keep everything in AE in 23.98 and bring it into FCP at 23.98 and use KONA on output to frame rate convert to 29.97 and 59.94? will kona LHi do that? or do i need to convert this to 29.97 in AE or FCP beforehand?

  as always ANY info is greatly appreciated.

  [Dave LaRonde] “Oops! I didn’t see that you also have to make FILES. Sorry. Well, the Kona card will still work for tape if you want to make a 23.976 1080 version of the file.”

  The Kona card will work for all the conversions, if Bernardo doesn’t mind re-digitizing his 1080i29.97 output, then re-digitizing again at 720p59.94 for cross-conversion.

  Indeed — just tossing out another option.

  Kona’s scalers are really nice, and it’s real time. Going from 1080p down to 720p, this will matter less, but if Bernardo were going up from 720p to 1080p, he’d get better results on the Kona.

  thanks to you both. i kinda had all this figured out in my head, but wanted to get second opinions from proffessionals like yourselves. I think i will shoot for straight file delivery out of after effects, but if its proving too complicated, i will redigitize.
