I want to record 10 bit using the hd sdi output for the sony F 900H. I don’t feel like spending the money for an HDCAM studio deck. Can I record direct to a Mac Pro and if so what would be the best approach. The film is independant, and will all be shot in studio. Thanks

Just did exactly that. We are busy till Friday but I’d be glad to fill you in. It worked great, by the way.

We’ve done the same thing on a green screen studio shoot, used a Mac with an Xserve RAID and a Blackmagic card, went straight in from the camera head via HDSDI, we also recorded to tape as well as a backup.

Quality is very good and really easy to pull keys from. As a comparison we captured some of the material from the HDCam tapes and there was a visible difference in quality as well as ease of keying.
