  • Jaggie Graphics and XDCAM HD HQ 35 FCP sequences?

Posted by Paul Nevison on March 9, 2007 at 12:40 pm

    hey there,

with the colour space of XDCAM HD being 4:2:0 does that mean that any XDCAM HD 35mbs sequences will have issues with jaggies on graphics as per DV timelines?

    thanks

Not if you do your post right.

Just because your acquisition format is 4:1:1 doesn’t mean you have to do your graphics in a 4:1:1 environment.

    hey Nate,

are you refering to cutting in a 4:2:0 sequence for the cut, then copying adding graphics and rerendering in an uncompressed sequence?

    Yup.

I find the 4:2:0 of XDCAM HD isn’t nearly as objectionable to begin with anyway, though. 1920×1080 is a whole lot more pixels than DV, seems to ease the pain.
