I have some DV footage (PAL) captured via FCP.
When I try to slow down the footage in AE (Stretch 200%)
I get a strange flicker in the background (the Pool)

Is it because there is a lot of detail in the background ?
Tests I did with a Sony Handycam looked fine, but this was shot on a PD150.
I also tried slowing the video in Shake but I get the same result.

And if I deinterlace the video I get an ugly, strobing motion.
The guy is running around the pool, pretty fast motion.
    Ideas will be welcomed.

    cheers

Have you tried applying frame blending to your layer?

If it’s the horizontal lines in the tiles flickering, then its’ because they’re less than 1 pixel high, so they’re present on only 1 of the two fields.
When you slow down, you see the two fields one by one,

you might try setting ‘preserve edges’ in the interpret footage dialog, but that doesn’t always work that good.

Also, do you have it set to best quality and full resolution?

Sometimes I forget to tick those boxes then I smack myself in the forehead.
