  Sync Generator for use with ATEM switcher package

  Howdy,
  I am in the market for a new camera/switcher package that will produce sporting events for local broadcast and videoboard playback. The system I’m leaning towards is as follows: 4 Sony EX3 – 2 M/E 16 input ATEM – Compact Videohub – and a bunch of HD SDI playback and record equipment. My question is what is the best solution for a Sync Generator in my camera chain – as I understand it, to minimize any latency I will have with non synced sources. Also has anyone had experience with non sync’ed cameras and how much latency can I expect with an ATEM? My other solutions are Broadcast PIX and some kind of Newtek product.

  This package is going into a minor league baseball facility so like anything these days the budget is exceptionally tight. Someday I’ll get a project that has an unlimited budget – someday 🙂

  Hi Eric,
  whatever will be your switcher you will have to add a sync generator; Blackmagic Design produces a very cheap one, the Mini Converter Sync Generator that includes a 6 output distributor https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/miniconverters/models/

  I like very much the 2 M/E, the hardware consolle is not so cheap but if you like to work with a touch PC it is very powerful and cheap at the same time.
