  Light Beams

  I’m trying to figure out how to make light beams that look similar to the image below. Does anyone have any ideas or know of a tutorial that does something similar?

  create a spiky ball (knoll light factory has good effects for this, or you could try the standard lens flare, but the lens artifacts may not work out), then add something like cc fast radial blur set to brightest, offset the center to get the direction you want and crank up the amount.
