new Intensity Pro – experience so far
The following is my experience so far with Intensity Pro, feel free to comment:
PC – XP SP2 – Core 2 Duo – 2 gig ram – Premiere CS3
*Capturing using MJPEG setting via HDMI*
External SATA drive – captures without dropped frames, and plays back smoothly on LCD computer monitor
External SATA RAID 0 (2 drives acting as one) – using the onboard SATA port, not a RAID controller- smooth capture and playback.
Can capture 1080i 4:2:2 setting without dropped frames, but does not playback smoothly, but this is expected without a RAID controller.
I do not get audio via HDMI capture
Question – if the RAID enclosure has only 1 SATA port, how does a RAID controller card improve throughput, since all data is still only going through one cable?
Playback – MJPEG only
On LCD computer monitor, picture is jaggy, but smooth. I do not have an HDMI monitor yet.
Playback of native HDV by comparison on the LCD computer monitor is smooth and clear.
The Intensity Component out is set to downconvert HD to SD letterbox, but nothing shows during playback in Premiere.
During capture from a Sony HDV deck, I get SD letterbox video via component on my NTSC SD monitor. To make a HDV master, I import the MJPEG project into a HDV project, render and export to tape without incident.
Thanks for reading.
