  Intensity Pro HDMI setup question

  Hi. I’m a newb. I’m trying to capture SD video with Intensity Pro and am getting no preview. I want to capture through HDMI using an HDMI DVD player for playback. Again, I want to capture SD DVD through HDMI.

  The DVD I want to capture from is SD footage I shot myself and burnt onto a DVD-R. There’s no copy-protection. I want to preserve the quality by capturing through HDMI.

  I’m using FCP6. I have the intensity setup input set to “HDMI video and HDMI audio.” I get no preview in FCP no matter what source i select. I’ve tried selecting all of the available NTSC input selections and nothing seems to work.

  can someone please help.

  Hi,

  There’s a high chance that the DVD player is implementing HDCP on the HDMI output even though the DVD material is self produced. We’ve seen this happen before.

  thanks for responding. Is there a work-around to this? What if I try capturing with component cables? I’ve tried that also, btw, and I get a black&white preview with an offset image. Any suggestions?

  Capturing via component should be ok. What you need to watchout for is the type of signal your DVD is sending out. Make sure it’s interlaced and not progressive.
