BMD Multibridge Extreme display options
We are shooting 1080i25P on a HVX202 (PAL).
My understanding is that the progressive frame insert the information into the fields of the 1080i packet to transport it.
What is the correct sequence to choose in FCP that will reconstruct the progressive frame for editing and then how that is played out progressively to a Sony client monitor, that is a progressive display (SONY 46″ Bravio X series).
The BMD Multibridge DVI out should do that, but I have been advised by BMD that their DVI only supports 1080i. I understand AJA can do that, so I may have to abandon my MBE to achieve this. I suppose the issue is whether FCP cutting progressively can display on the fly at 1080i and then play out on the the fly in 1080i using the MBE, this is a client monitor so it has to manage the output in real time. The final issue is how it looks on the SONY as it will be first converted to Interlace then back into progressive as I assume like all LCD panels they cannot display interlace as they are a serial device. So I would expect to see some errors. It beats me why we have to go through these hoops in order to display on an LCD. BMD should support progressive as part of the DVI output.
I understand that to play this out to tape, it has to be interlaced, but this project is going direct to ECinema, and will go out as a Progressive file using the H-264 codec running at 116Mb/s
Thanks.
Ian.
