Intensity Pro and the ability to capture PC output from DVI
I am thinking about buying the Blackmagic Intensity Pro for the purpose of capturing PC computer images. My idea was to get a DVI to HDMI cable hooked up from the display adaptor output of a PC and run it into the Intensity Pro. Blackmagic tech support could not tell me for certain that it would work, however they did mention that they had customers who had gotten it to work as long as the PC’s screen resolution was set as close as possible to a broadcast frame size that the Intensity pro can handle (SD or HD). But wide screen support on PCs are an aspect ratio of 16×10, a little taller than HD at 16×9. Still, BM tech said that they had heard that a PC set to 1920×1200 at 60Hz would be recognized by the 1920x1080i or progressive capture input within Adobe Premiere Pro. Likewise, 1280×768 at 60Hz should be recognized by the 1280x720p capture preset. Before spending the money on the Intensity pro to see if it actually works, I want to hear from anyone who is doing it. Also, here’s a very important question. If it does work, then does the capture codec crop off a thin strip along the top and bottom of the PC capture, or does it squash the 16×10 PC aspect down to 16×9? Any practical experience with this product would be much appreciated.
