Need Male-to-male RS 422 cable!
Spending the weekend switiching out my old G5 with DecklinkSP for the new 8-core with Multibridge pro. Realize now I need a male-to-male 9pin connector cable to control my BetaSP deck.
Anyone know where I can get such an item fast (and for a reasonable price)? I only need a short run, 3-6 ft would be fine.
(Actually I’m suprised I got caught on this… I guess I figured for $1600 I’d be good to go right out of the box, like with the DecklinkSP).

Get a 9 pin cable with a cheap gender switcher on the end. Shouldn’t cost more than $15-20 US at your local technology store.

Don’t know why I thought I had to have RS422, when basic 232 will work fine. Should cost only $5-10 and be easy to find.

Yeah, if I wasn’t so impatient I could have saved a few bucks. In the end I found a m-f cable for $3 at a local surplus store, but allowed myself to get ripped off at the Shack ‘o shame for their $9 gender changer.
Oh well, at least I can keep rebuilding the suite so I can be up and running Monday morining.
But thanks for the links, I’ll keep ’em handy.

We mostly use the gender benders but I’ve also chopped two cables and soldered them back together a few times when it was too late to get one.
Recently I’ve fallen in love with those 9pin connectors with a standard network socket on the back (RJ45?), they really kick ass and we’ve been able to remote stuff over the existing network cables, you don’t even need a soldering iron to rig them, just push the pins through the holes in the same order at each end, I don’t know what the max run would be but we have one that’s about 60ft and haven’t had any trouble at all.
