  View HDV on a HDTV monitor

  We are working in Avid Express Pro HD, cutting in native HDV format. We would like to screen the cut on an HD TV. We ran it through our HDV deck but couldn’t get picture. I have had two suggestions:

  1. get an Avid Mojo which will downconvert the signal
  2. transcode the sequence and then play the transcoded sequence through the deck to the HD TV.

  Are there any other ways around this HDV conundrum?

  Hello,

  You have posted on the Blackmagic forum. Post into Avid as this is specific to Avid not the Blackmagic Hardware as you are Avid based.

  you can use your HDV VTR to decode the 1394 signal to analog Y Pb Pr, so you can monitor on your system.
  You need to set your VTR for 1394 input (the iLink port), and you need to have your AVID output to the firewire port. If you can’t lay back from your AVID to your HDV VTR, nothing – no adaptor – is going to work, including the Mojo.
