questions re multibridge
We need something to get different flavors of video into our edit system (PPro 2) from Beta SP, old 3/4 SP, and DV. At this point we primarily edit DV while needing to access stock footage in different formats. How would this unit work for use? Does it encode to DV?

Hello,
The DV Firwire capture will be done via a 3rd party 1394 capture card. The Blackmagic has SDI, Analogue in and outs, etc but not firewire. his is recorded via a 3rd party card then you can play this via the timeline in your Blackmagic project.

So if we had a project that was mostly DV but also required BetaSP footage, how would Multibridge fit in that workflow?

Well you could capture the Betacam to say 8 bit uncompressed AVI and make a timeline for that footage. You can also add the DV clips onto the timeline with your Beta cam footage as well. As the Blackmagic is the input and output boards to get vidoe in and out of the system.

What about this scenario: the project is 90% DV so a timeline is created using the DV settings. Beta footage, captured via multibridge using one of Blackmagic’s codecs, is imported to this timeline. Obviously, PPro will render the beta footage on the timeline to conform to the DV settings. Will multibridge pass an NTSC signal from this timeline to an external monitor hooked up to it? Thanks for your help.

Hello,
You use a uncompressed SD timeline place your DV footage along with the Beta. Anything on your timeline presuming you are using the Blackmagic design project presets NTSC/PAL etc you then should be able to output direct to a Broadcast monitor.
