Couple questions about my new Decklink HD Extreme
I just got my decklink HD extreme card in… Very easy install! I had a question though about monitoring…. I have a sony SD production monitor that I want to use for color accuracy and I have a “client monitor” a Sharp Aquios HD LCD prosumer monitor. How in the world do I hook up both? Neither has SDI. The Sony SD has component in and so does the Aquios. I don’t see more than 1 component out from the extreme card. No s-video… ect…
Now onto my next question about audio. I have a set of ref. monitor speakers that before I got this card, used to monitor my audio through FCP/Soundtrack. Now since the audio will be routed through the decklink card, how will i hear my normal system sounds, itunes, ect? Do I need to buy an external mixer? Or is this there a way to route all my system sounds through the decklink card. Let me know what you guys reccomend on that route.

would something like this work for the audio:
run that into the computers “line in” and then run the speakers from the normal out. That way I can control the volume through the computer/

Hi,
After installing the DeckLink drivers, you’ll see DeckLink audio as an audio output device in your Sound preference pane. If you use that, all audio from your system will output via the DeckLink card. The Sound preferences do not affect your choices in FCP as FCP has it’s own preferences that over-rides the one in the System Preferences pane.

It’s a pain in the A$$ to not have overal volume control to turn speakers up or down with the touch of a button. I think having a mixer is the easiest route

I have the same complaint about controlling the speaker volume from within Final Cut with the Decklink Extreme and external reference monitors. How did you resolve it? Did you end up getting an external mixer?
