could you be more specific about what particular 80’s look are you looking to create? or give an example of a video or show…
or you could search the web for a mullet and sleeveless-shirt plugin…. 😉

August 19, 2011 at 9:14 amLots of old studio cameras in the 80s [ i had a jvc ]
used to deliver the video under a lil time echo. Almost invisible to the eye.
But when the lights went through the lens, it was there…
color clamp [GENARTS SAPPHIRE ]is something u should try.
There are also a few damage video plugins.
AIST Pro FX for AE was a plugin for earlier versions of AE.
Was able to produce some nice distortions with lots of parameters.
It was really better than digieffects.
But i think it was working up to Version 7 in AE.
I like custom made things, so once u happy with the digi process, try to VHS tape it and capture it back.
Make a copy of your layer and use it as track matte-lumma based on edges.
To the bottom layer try some lil mist and time mix, to get some kind of trails.
A third layer with 20-30%opacity may be a proper process.
feel free to post a sample of ur result.
cheers
