  • Mac Pro won’t start up with HD Extreme card in it.

    Mac Pro Dual 2.66
    1TB internal RAID
    5GB RAM
    OSX 10.4.8
    Deckling drivers: 5.7.2

I installed the HD Extreme card and had it running fine for a week or so.

Then the mac wouldn’t boot – there was a CPUB diagnostic LED lit on the motherboard.
I sent it back to the dealer, who sent me a new machine and transferred the drives, video card and RAM across.

It wouldn’t start up at all – and had the CPUB diagnostic LED lit again.
Their engineer has just been here. He took out everything apart from the factory configuration and the mac started fine.
He added everything one by one and it worked – until he added the video card and then the system wouldn’t boot.

There was a chime, but then just a grey screen.

The card was in the top slot as reccommended, so he tried the card in a different slot – it came up with the PCI configuration utility, which said that the card wasn’t running at full speed.

SO – he got another new Mac Pro and tried the card in there and again, no startup at all.

Therefore – is this a known problem, or has the card died on me?

I’ve also emailed BM support to see if they have a solution.

    Kind Regards,

    Rob Hughes.
