Hopefully someone can help me ASAP. I’m running a G5 dual 2.5 with Decklink HD Pro (PCI-X). I’m importing a footage that was shot on Varicam at 23.98. I have a HD1200A hooked up to the decklink card via HD-SDI out-in. When I start to capture, it captures fine until maybe couple of minutes later. The capture window freezes even though the tape is playing and the audio cuts out as well. I have the project setup as Blackmagic 720 23.98 10-bit.

Originally I installed the HD Pro in one of the 100mhz PCI-X slot. Even though it was the only one occupying the 100 mhz slot, it was causing major problems. I just switch it to the 133mhz slot and it captured fine. My machine is a G5 dual 2.5 with 4.5gig of ram. Hope this prevents others from making the same mistake.

    Hi John,

That’s really weird. If there was no other card in the spare 100 MHz slot, then DeckLink HD Pro should have been able to run at 100 MHz and which it requires for working in HD. It’s a good idea to run it in the 133 MHz slot anyway but this is the first time I’ve ever heard of the card not working in a 100 MHz slot when the other 100 MHz slot has been unoccupied.

We often run the cards in the 100 MHz slot so your problem is a bit of a mystery. In any case, thank you for posting the solution.

    hey Luke,
by any chance do you think that maybe it has to do with Final Cut Pro 5.0.4?

    Hi John,

I can’t see why Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 should have any issue with the 100 MHz slot as we have previously tested that and it worked fine.
