  • DV and 10bit BMD clip in the same sequence in FCP 5.0.4?

    HI guys
I’m new to FCP and MAC OS X and maybe my question is stupid, however I experience a problem to playback a clip captured from a DV Player in DV format and uncomressed 10 bit YUV BMD codec clip in the same sequence. Is there any possibility to playback without render a DV clip and uncompressed clip in one sequence in FCP 5.0.4 with Decklink Exreme? I know that with same Decklink Card it is possible to mix different formats in one timeline in Premire Pro 2

    Thank You in advance

As far as I know, it does not work in FCP with Decklink. Pinnacle showed this working in Cinewave a few years back so it is “theoretically possible”, but maybe not with the Decklink hardware or the Apple codecs…

It definitely could come in handy… we capture in a lot of roughcuts from avid then need to add our finished comped shots. We tend to capture these roughcuts 10bit (overkill) so the timeline is consistent.

I found that it is possible to work in FCP with DV and uncompressed if the unlimited RT is ON.

one odd thing i noticed today when working on a combination DV/10bit Uncompressed project, is that FCP seems to automatically apply a field shift filter to a dv clip dropped in a 10bit timeline. This seems to make sense since the field orders of the two are different, but actually it doesn’t work properly with the filter, but if you remove it, and then render, it will play back correctly. ??????
