    Hi

Please help! I’m really stuck here trying to capture my Varicam footage using Final Cut Pro with my Decklink HD plus. I have a Panasonic AJ1200 on hire and i’ve spent the whole day trying to get this thing to work. The deck is set u correctly for the footage i’m using as I went back to the hire company with the deck and tapes to check. They also have a Final Cut system with a Decklink card and everything worked just fine. Gorgeous slo mo footage exactly as i’d shot it but NOT on my edit suite! I went back to my suite and set up my system exactly the same and still nothing. I’ve had to resort to down converting everything to SD and not bothering with the slo mo. Bit of a shame really!

It’s a long shot but has anyone encountered this problem? or is it something really silly that i’ve just not done although i’ve pretty much checked everything.

My footage was shot at 60fps and the set up that was working with the other edit suit was the 720p 29.97 setting. The deck system freq was is set to 59/60.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jel

Jeremy, look into the Frame Rate Converter plug-in I believe (I say this with next to no real knowledge on this) that the Varicam shoots everything at 60fps and “flags” the extra/not needed frames. Using the FRG plug you can remove these flaged frames and then have your slo-mo. I think. The plug is either on the Panasonic or Apple sites.
