  Only noise on the monitor

  Hi,

  After a perfect installation of my new decklink HD, I only get noise on my broadcast monitor.

  I use both premiere pro and after effects, but I get noise on the monitor from both programs. The video out settings in the programs should be okay.

  I’ve tried to chance computer, cables, driver versions (5.2.2 and 5.1), monitor and even tried a new decklink HD card. But it doesn’t work.

  What am I doing wrong??

  Hi Claus,

  Is this a SD or HD monitor? Does it have SDI inputs?

  Do you get the Windows desktop on it when no applications are opened?

  Have you tried switching the video resolution of the desktop provided by the DeckLink card to see if anything happens?

  Hi,

  The DeckLink HD card has an SDI input and two SDI outputs. If you connect it directly to an analog monitor, you will see “snow” or “static”. Component analog monitors have three inputs and sometimes new DeckLink users guess that the three BNC connectors on the DeckLink HD are for connection to a component analog monitor but this is not the case. Could that be the answer to your problem?

  Please let me know what kind of deck and/or camera you wish to use with the DeckLink card and also what kind of monitor you have. I should then be able to determine if you are encountering a bug or if you need different hardware.

  I’m using a Sony LMD-230W 23″ 16:9 LCD monitor with an HD/SD SDI option. My decklink card is connected to the monitor with SDI.

  The noise shows on the screen when I plugin the SDI cable, eventhough no programs are running.

  Hi Claus,

  Do you have access to any other SD-SDI or HD-SDI source so you can test the SDI input of your monitor? It would be great if you could test it with the SDI output of a deck.

  When you start up your PC and extend the desktop on to the DeckLink monitor, can you see a NTSC or PAL desktop on your monitor or only static?

  unfortunately I don’t have any other SDI sources. But I have tested the decklink card on two different broadcast monitors, and I get noise on both monitors.

  When I reboot my computer the noise disappears. The noise comes back when I have logged on to windows so I don’t get the windows desktop on the broadcast monitor.

  Hi,

  I’ve found the solution.

  I moved the decklink card from the PCI-X 133 slot to the PCI-X 100 slot. And now it works.
