  Text Generator Resize Problem

  I have been working a project that has moved between two different FCP systems – one with a Decklink card and one without. Both systems are running on G5s with FCP 5.0.2, OS 10.4.2 and QT 7.0.2.

  When captions created within FCP’s Text Generator are rendered (and I am rendering) on the two systems, the caption size in relation to the background picture is very noticeably larger on the Decklink system.

  Can anyone explain why this is and how I make the two systems consistent?

  Hi Nick,

  I haven’t heard of this but will try to fit in some testing in the next 2 to 3 days. We’re flat out with the migration to PCIe but we should be able to squeeze in a test for you.

  Many thanks for your response, Luke.

  I appreciate that the simplest solution is to get a Decklink card for the other system – and I am lobbying hard for this – but there will always be instances where one needs to work on projects on non-Decklink systems and then to move back to the main system with Decklink.

  For your information, we have noticed that this issue has been present at least since Summer 2004 – so that’s across both FCP 4.5 and 5, OS 10.3 + 10.4, plus various iterations of both QuickTime and the Blackmagic drivers.

  Also, I should have mentioned that we’re working in PAL on both systems. DVCAM and Digital Betacam media is captured via SDI (through the DEcklink card) at DV resolution and remains in this form throughout post production.

  Any thoughts that you (or others) may have would be much appreciated.
