    Hi!
Just got a new DL Extreme card. Its in the second slot from the top.

the problem: Cant get any picture on my external monitor. All I get is a grey screen with 2 vertical green lines. The driver set is 5.1. Tried out all the settings in sys pref. I use the card for now just for video desktop – no input signal.

    Any clues?

    Luke… anybody…?

Yes, the latest model. Just came a week ago. Forgot to say – im monitoring/using for video desktop only analog connectors (component – Y etc.). No other connections on the card are beeing used – no input. Could this be the problem?

    thnx

The BM maula says that its not necessary for the card to be in a PCI X slot. I also have a ATTO SCSII controler. Any recomendations on the slots these two cards sould be installed (DL Extreme & ATTO ULD4)?

    thnx

    Tom,

Im afraid you have fallen into a little trap here, you are correct that you do not need a PCI-X slot for this card, but you do need a qualifying mac g5, and im afriad you dont have one. Unless I’m wrong, as of this summer or spring when an apple firmware update was released, none of the G5’s without PCI-X slots will support BM cards of any kind. I personally bought a Dual G5 1.8 this year and after purchasing found this out to great frustration. I returned the machine and went back to my old G4 which will support the Deck Link HD card used for SD only.

This isnt easy to hear but it is the truth! Read some of the fine print on the BM website and you will see.

    HI,

BTW this has been discussed on this forum quite a lot
and is well documented on the Blackmagic website.

Please research before you buy or ask your video reseller, it will save
you a lot of assles in the long run ;-).
