    hello forumness

    just got a decklink exteme (sweet!)slipped it into my g5

    trying to setup my component monitor with some bars

    now i did some surfing and came upon a little os9 app called test pattern maker by synthetic apperture

    now they have a good pdf on the set up but i dont know what bars to output out the app and put in my fcp timeline to setmeup

    i guess smpte bars ar good

    rec.601 for pal? (pal for sure as im uk)

    now here is the bit i need help with

    what is the coding for the decklink extreme?
    rgb (0-255) no setup
    rgb (0-255) w/ setup
    rec. 601 (16-235) no setup
    rec. 601 (16-235) w/ setup

    ha ha

    just load up the bars from the viewer in FCP.

    bars should always be generated by the source. I see no reason not use the FCP bars.

    see thing is

    everytime i generate a bar in final cut

    yon pluge bars are 2 of the same black then one grey

    if i take the frame into plotyslop then pippete it then i get zeros ont rgb on the 2 black then 1 on the grey

    can you generate one and email me with it

    Have you done tried looking at it in the viewer and tooling with the brightness / contrast just so you know it’s there?

    I suspect that the noted gamma wibbliness in and out of FCP might be smudging the issue with Plotyslop.

    Also it is always, rpt, always the video monitor that should be the reference, not the computer monitor.

    The colour meter app on my system registers 0,0,0 RGB for all three pluge bars on the comp monitor but on my video monitor they are there.

    Try shutting your curtains, that may help, just remember to open them again.
