  Why didn’t I figure this out sooner? Composite monitor

  Just how long have I been stupid?

  I’m an After Effects designer and just got this Decklink SP card so I can see what the heck I’m doing.
  It’s terrific, but it only has (analog) component video out and I constantly need to monitor my levels.

  “Y” is luma, so I just hook my little Leader composite waveform monitor directly to that. Works great.
  This Leader thing also has a little TV…so now it shows a B&W image. Great as well.

  Didn’t we used to have a “MONO” button we used from time to time?

  You can do composite over the Y connector as well.
