I’m working with uncompressed footage (FCP 4.5, blackmagic 10bit Uncompressed) and i have to deliver on Mini-DV. I’ve tried exporting the finished timeline out with “export with conversion” and when i reimport into a dv timeline to run off to the DV deck via firewire, i get tons of banding in the fades and such. I know there will be some…but is there a blackmagic codec or trick, to reduce this banding in DV?

I tried connecting to the y/c input on my dv deck and got less banding but footage seems too soft.

if you can output to digibeta uncompressed and then recapture with the deck link dv codec, and the output dv via firewire, thats your best bet. otherwise output uncompressed via component to your dv deck. should be much better than a software downconvert

    Hi

You get the artifacts because the field order is reverse in DV than uncompressed, move the enitire clip one pixel up or down and it should be OK
