No DV out on Decklink in PAL – what’s the story?

Luckily I am in a period of not editing for clients, otherwise I’d be pretty frustrated:
My Decklink card outputs nothing but its own codec files or Cinewave or Apple Uncompressed files. Any flavour of DV or HDV is not output even if they play normally on the computer display (must render as Blackmagic or Cinewave first).Never had DV output over Decklink since upgrading to 10.4, QT7 and FCP5. Did a completely clean install including wiping the internal drive and reinstalling everything. No output even with a clean as possible system with no plug-ins. Then again I hear of other (PAL) users with no problems with DV.
How big is this problem with the current release of the Decklink software?

Hi Amund,
That is very strange. Please quit from Final Cut Pro HD and try using Blackmagic Deck Control. Try playing out a PAL DV movie and see if it works. This will tell us whether the issue is limited to FCP or more general.

I believe this is a fairly common problem in PAL, no? I have a colleague who seems to have the same problem, I’ll check and see if it is identical.
Anyway, DV25 clips play out fine via theDeck Control application, both PAL and NTSC. Also AUC 8/10 bit SD or HD and Cinewave clips, but just not DV50. All I get is a garbled picture from DV50 (anamorphic).

And DVCProHD clips play fine too. They are converted from Decklink AUC 10bit HD to DCVProHD via Quicktime Player and not native files recorded as such, but they seem to play fine in Deck Control. I’ll try to convert something into DV50 via Quicktime and see if that makes any difference.

A DV25 file that plays fine via Deck Control will will not play out when converted to DV50. For a fraction of a second the viewer will display the first frame when I open the clip, then it goes all garbled. There is video output to Decklink with movement/frames, but twisted and distorted.
DV25 clips in FCP5 will play fine in the timeline but not out to Decklink. The video monitor goes black and clips play fine on the computer monitor but not on Decklink output. However, when I set video playback to “wireframe” the Decklink output will update with still frames every time I stop or scrub to a new point in the timeline, i.e when the computer playback is off (black). Odd.

PS: My colleague has no video output at all, however this could be due to his way of upgrading a la the points noted on Blackmagic’s support pages. I did a complete clean install with formatted disk and all.
