  • extension cables for the decklink?

    Hi,

The digibeta deck in my new office is about 15 feet away from the reach of my decklink extreme card. Can anyone recommend a brand and seller of extention cables? I guess at a minimum, I would need an SDI extension and an RS422 extension. BUt what about genlock and the other cables? Just BNC or something special?

thanks to anyone who can help,

It’s nothing special. Get female to female adapters and use regular 75ohm BNC cables. As for RS422, any 9-pin adapter or extension cable from any PC store will do.

    Hi Jeremiah,

Sean’s advice is spot on. However make sure you are using good quality SDI cables. You’re working in SD-SDI and so don’t need the more expensive HD-SDI cables. However if you work with a mix of SD and HD gear, then having different grades of cables can be confusing and it is better to standardize on HD-rated cables. We have a technical note about cables for HD-SDI at https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/detail.asp?techID=90.

Thanks guys. I found the cables and everything looks great. Much appreciated.

I will say that finding a male to female RS-422 cable proved to be a huge pain. You have to buy a male to male and then buy a gender changer. Odd. But works.

    thanks again,
